The American Cytogenomics Conference (ACC) is pleased to recognize AnneMarie W. Block, PhD, of the Roswell Park Graduate Division and the Jacobs School of Medicine at the State University of New York at Buffalo, as the recipient of the 2026 ACC Outstanding Service Award. We look forward to honoring her exceptional service and contributions at the 2026 ACC Annual Meeting in San Diego, on May 17–20, 2026.

2026 ACC Outstanding Service Award Recipient
Dr. Block is a Founding Fellow of the American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics. She is board-certified in clinical cytogenetics by the American Board of Medical Genetics.
Dr. Block has made significant contributions to education and mentorship. She served as the course coordinator for “Oncology for Scientists,” a comprehensive, year-long graduate course offered through the Roswell Park Graduate Division, reflecting her long-standing dedication to interdisciplinary training. She has mentored many trainees, technologists, and junior faculty, helping to shape the next generation of cytogenetics professionals. She helped establish the New York State Regional Cytogenetics Meeting, which has now met annually for 25+ years.
She participates in outreach activities related to clinical laboratory careers, cutting karyotypes with middle and high school students and introducing basic genetic concepts, and in community-wide activities, including the Boards of the Black Rock Riverside Alliance in Buffalo and the Catholic Academy of West Buffalo.
Her scholarly work includes over 150 publications, book chapters, and abstracts. She was a long-time assistant editor for Cancer Genetics and Cytogenetics, which was founded by Dr. Sandberg, and is currently on the editorial board of the successor journal Cancer Genetics.
Dr. Block has also been actively involved in professional service through membership and leadership roles in several national organizations, including the American Cytogenomics Conference.
